Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick Star In Corkscrewed
‘Nasty’ Nigel and Ken get a sobering taste of reality as the tables are turned in…CORKSCREWED
‘Nasty’ Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick, from childhood friends in Liverpool to the hottest television producers in America, take on unfamiliar territory as they try their hands at the wine business in Corkscrewed. This four-part observational documentary follows their trials and exploits as they make a major investment in a lifelong dream - owning their own vineyard.
Originally planned as a consortium of buyers including Simon Cowell, Simon Fuller, Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson, the investors, one by one, pulled out, leaving Nigel and Ken to go it alone. With little horticultural knowledge and no experience in the field they’re facing their toughest challenge yet. They can make idols, but can they make wine?
Corkscrewed is set on a beautiful 168-acre vineyard in Paso Robles, California, but stunning surroundings don’t guarantee success. Problems arise from the outset for Nigel and Ken. Dressed in designer couture, they struggle to convince the owner of their interest in viniculture and from there things go from bad to worse. Vine infestations, wild boars and bad business collaborations cause potential profits to dwindle. Can the uber-producers turn failure into success, or will this be one TV challenge that’s just too much for them?
Since his front of camera debut in 2001 on Popstars, Lythgoe has enjoyed continued success alongside Warwick behind the scenes of Pop Idol, the unstoppable American Idol and as a judge and executive producer on So You Think You Can Dance. They are true reality TV kings, but can their Midas touch extend to the vineyard? Will their wine hit the spot or will sweet dreams ferment into sour grapes?
From Monday 26th March at 9pm on Sky One
