No Strictly Sunday Show

Strictly Come Dancing bosses have announced that the Sunday night results show has been axed for the new series and instead, Saturday night’s show will be extended.

The Press Association reports that, “Couples will compete, face the public vote and have the dance-off all in a single show as the BBC attempts to make Saturday night ‘Strictly night.’”

Apparently the decision was made to avoid any clashes with the X Factor results show which is rumoured to be airing on Sunday evenings this year.

A show insider told the PA, “It’s better for the viewers because there’s no clash – people at home lose out if things are competing against one another.”

The new series of Strictly begins in September and is understood to be kicking off with two Friday night launch shows, but will then switch to a regular Saturday slot.

A spokesman for the BBC is reported as saying, “We wanted to make Strictly Come Dancing an unmissable TV event this autumn, so we are packing all the action into one dramatic show.

“Audiences will be watching, voting and, crucially, seeing who’s in and who’s out every week on Saturday nights.”
