Boy band Lawson have – seemingly – appeared out of nowhere and shot into the charts with their single When She Was Mine, which has debuted at No4 in the UK singles’ chart…

However, singer Andy Brown, who wrote the track about his ex, who is Saturdays singer Mollie King, has responded to suggestions that Lawson are the new 1D by saying, “Call us whatever you want, but we’re nothing like 1D.”

He added, “They’re a lot younger than us for a start and probably better looking, cooler guys!

“Seriously, they’re a proper, traditional boyband and we’re not. “If you watch our live show you really get the vibe of what we are.”

However, despite his eagerness that Lawson aren’t dubbed the new One Direction, Andy and his band mates Adam Pitts, Joel Peat and Ryan Fletcher are actually friends of Harry Styles’…

Andy added, “It’s not that we don’t like being compared to them, but we think we’re so different.”

In an interview with The Sun, Andy went on to say, “We basically do a rock show with loud, guitar solos.

“We actually we had fireworks for the first time ever the other week. We’d prefer to be likened to One Republic, Maroon 5 or a pop-ier Kings Of Leon.

“That’s who we aspire to be, but we know we’re not that rock ‘n’ roll.”
