Orange unsignedAct: Lauren Laverne Says NO To Sob Stories

TV presenter, Lauren Laverne has hit out at talent TV shows like The X Factor for their focus on sob stories instead of talent, and promised that there will be none of that on her new show, Orange unsignedAct.

The show kicks off on T4 for Channel 4 next month and features a nationwide search for musicians who both write and play their own music.

MSN quote Lauren as saying:

“It’s not about warblers and sob stories or any of those things. It’s about talent and spirit and something extra – that’s what we’re looking for.

“The main difference for me between our show and a show like The X factor is, music isn’t football.

“It’s not about proficiency, it’s not about who is technically the best singer or who can play the guitar the fastest or who is a really good drummer, it’s about spirit. It’s about who can make a song that will absolutely electrify every follicle on your body so that all your hairs are standing on end so you’re freaking out it’s so good. And that can be done in less than three chords and less than 20 words.”
