Play It Again: Bill Oddie

Wildlife enthusiast and former Goodie, Bill Oddie, has always dreamt of being a rock guitarist and, in the final episode of Play It Again, he has a chance of fulfilling his dream.

Play It Again follows six celebrities on a musical journey as they learn an instrument in preparation for a big finale – a public performance. Bill hopes his guitar-playing will be good enough to join his daughter’s band at her 21st birthday party.

Bill cannot read music, admits that he is very undisciplined and sympathises with his guitar teacher, Bridget Merikides, that he is a very difficult pupil.

In a rare glimpse into the Oddie household, Bill’s daughter, Rosie, watches her father’s progress and frustration as he tries to get to grips with guitar classics. However, teacher Bridget’s tough learning programme takes its toll on Bill. After facing the challenge of playing at an international guitar festival in Bath, he decides it’s time to drop the tutor and go solo.

Seeking help and advice from rock legends such as The Kinks’ Dave Davies and Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler, he pushes on with his dream of being the guitar player in Rosie’s band.
