Play It Again: Sing And Play With The BBC
The BBC is giving the British public the opportunity to play a musical instrument or sing alongside BBC musicians in a series of free live events across the country.
The events, which accompany the recent BBC One television series, Play It Again, will give thousands of people of all ages and abilities the chance to perform with members of the BBC Orchestras and BBC Singers.
If you enjoyed watching Aled Jones learning to play the drums or were inspired by Jo Brand mastering the organ, you too can have a go at making music at one of 21 events.
The Play It Again events, which run until the 15 of July, are aimed at beginners and rusty returners alike, giving everyone the chance to come along and take part.
Participants can bring along an instrument (excluding electric instruments), or they can sing or play percussion (percussion instruments provided). Plenty of professionals will be on hand to support and encourage them.
At the end of the session everyone will be given the chance to perform with a BBC performing group – BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra or the BBC Big Band.
The events last for three hours and are open to adults and children over 8-years-old. Participants can register online or by phone at bbc.co.uk/playitagain or 0800 096 0570.
The dates are as follows:
* 13 May – Cambridge (2 events)

This looks like the real McCoy. A programme dedicated to the art of music.
I have already made contact and would advise anyone interested to make your application online as it is quicker by far. You can also take a hard copy and will receive a notification via your email address.

I attended the BBC Play It Again event at Watford Colosseum. It was a huge amount of fun. Although slightly daunting at playing with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Tim Steiner and everyone else made us all very welcome.
We ended up playing a variation on “Tonight” , appropriately titled “Not Tonight” from Bernstein’s West Side Story.
I managed to capture an audio diary of this, for those that want to hear how it was run. It can be found at http://humsaloud.btpodshow.com
