Project Catwalk: Something Old, Something New
In the penultimate episode of the series the four remaining designers battle it out to make it into the final three. This week the battle ground has been moved to the busiest and most commercial shopping street in London – Oxford Street – where the designers take up their new residency on the shop floor of Debenhams.
Their challenge is every girl’s dream – to create a themed wedding dress that is both beautiful and not obviously traditional for TV presenter Holly Willoughby and they have just five minutes of one on one time with Holly to ascertain her needs as their new client.
With just three days to design and make a wedding dress that will secure them a place in the final three, the heat is really on – and is only added to by the curious eyes of the general public as they work on the shop floor in Debenhams and the critical eye of expert wedding dress designers Pearce & Fionda, who remind the designers that their dresses must be above standard and complete if they want to be in with a chance.
The design must include something Old, Something new, Something Borrowed and Something Blue and the designers go on a mad shop scramble to find those special pieces to aid their designs.
Of course, there is a twist – and the designers are told that their wedding dresses will be showcased in the shop window of Debenhams. With a long night ahead pending, will the designers make it to the catwalk on time or will their creations be deemed too spooky, too Bridesmaid, too ambitious and not controversial enough to secure them a place in the final three.
Judging the designers this week are top designer Julien MacDonald, style director of Grazia magazine Paula Reed, guest judge Holly Willoughby and the host, Kelly Osbourne.
Each week the budding designers face elimination based on how they meet the challenges set for them by the panel until only three remain. The three finalists will each showcase full lines on the catwalk and the winning designer’s garments will be photographed for top women’s magazine Grazia and will also receive the seed money to help them launch their own line.
This episode will air on Sky One On Monday 5th March at 9pm
