Ratings: Let’s Dance For Comic Relief loses viewers to Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway
Let’s Dance For Comic Relief saw it’s rule over the airwaves broken last night with the return of the ever popular Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
The BBC show enjoyed bumper ratings for it’s first episode last week, when Tim Vine and The Soap Stars impressed the public and judges alike and won themselves a place in the grand finale.
However, it couldn’t continue it’s reign yesterday and the the Geordie boys stole a fair proportion of their viewers, as they brought back a format that hasn’t been seen on ITV for the last four years.
ITV confirmed recently that it was bringing Ant and Dec back, in a bid to shore up their Saturday night lineup against the competition heading it’s way in The Voice. Last night they beat the Beeb in terms of viewing figures, with Let’s Dance ratings falling from 6.7 million in week one to just above 5 million yesterday.
Ant and Dec attracted 6.4 million viewers for the return of their series, which featured Louis Walsh talking to a banana, a funny skit with David Walliams and a performance from Robbie Williams.
The total numbers rose to over 7 million when the ITV+1 figures were added.
The Ant and Dec team were elated with their first show and tweeted this morning to thank Walliams for helping them bring it back with a bang. They wrote:
“A very special “thank you” to @DavidWalliams! An amazing announcer who crammed more innuendos in than a Carry On… film. Bravo!”
They also expressed their gratitude to Walsh saying:
“How amazing was Louis Walsh last night? #ThankYouLouis”
