Reality TV Kidney Show Was A Hoax
A dutch reality TV show recently launched by Endemol in which a terminally ill woman would award a kidney to the winner, has been declared a hoax. The producers say it was made to highlight the shortage of Dutch donors.
The supposed ‘donor’ was actually an actress, and although the contestants did genuinely need a kidney transplant, they were in on the joke.
“We have only done this cry for help because we want to solve a problem that shouldn’t be a problem,” a producer told a news conference after the show.
Dutch Culture Minister Ronald Plasterk hailed the show as a “fantastic stunt”.
