Revenge is sweet: Cheryl Cole in Talks with American Idol?

After being sensationally sacked from her judging position on the X Factor USA half way through the season, what better way for Cheryl Cole to reap revenge on dastardly Simon Cowell than by signing up to be a judge on American rival talent show, American Idol?

Ever since her controversial exit from the US version of the show that earned her a ‘nation’s sweetheart’ badge, Cheryl Cole has remained quiet about her future plan, whilst the rest of the world went into speculation overdrive, linking her to just about anything that may slightly pee music mogul, Cowell, off.

But if today’s claims are true, then she may be about to inflict the ultimate revenge on the reality puppet master, as reports have now linked her to a judging role on American Idol.

According to these reports, Cole has been approached by show executives at Idol, owned by US Simon Cowell equivelant, and arch nemesis, Simon Fuller, about the possibility of her taking one of the judges hot seats when the new series starts next year.

Rumour has it that current judge, Jennifer Lopez, will not be renewing her contract, due to her family commitments when the show starts again next year, so Cole is expected to take over from her, or, failing that, discussions have even been extended to include the possibility of simply adding the Geordie princess as a fourth judge.

American Idol is the mothership of reality talent shows in the US, polling in excess of 40 million viewers at its peak, with current judges Aerosmith’s Steve Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson.

Cheryl  was excluded from the X Factor USA due to an accent barrier and her reported inability to fit in with the US public, however since her departure has gone on to make a guest appearance in the hit film What To Expect When You’re Expecting, where she performed a cameo as a talent show judge in the movie’s opening scene.

This news is bound to come as a blow to Cowell, who was dubbed the big bad wolf after his treatment of our Cheryl followed by the dignified Girl’s Aloud singer’s silence with the media over the event.  The pair did not speak for many months, which infuriated Cowell, who publicly came out and apologised and begged to bury the hatchet with Britain’s favourite judge.

An insider said: “The two Simon’s are well known for their long-running feud which has even ended up in legal proceedings.

“There have been constant battles over who owns the rights to the TV shows, and Simon Cowell has always had overtaking Simon Fuller’s wealth as a goal in the back of his mind.

“Simon Cowell was genuinely upset when he and Cheryl fell out, especially because she completely refused to speak to him for a long time, but they’ve finally started to rebuild their relationship.

“If she was to then turn to his rival and start working for him it would be a major blow, Simon would take it incredibly personally.”

However, an American Idol source has denied that such a move would be made simply to put Cowell’s nose out of joint, as well as insisting that neither Cheryl’s accent or personality would put them off hiring her for the job!

It is understood that figure wise, Cole can expect a much smaller salary than Lopez is currently on, with a source saying: “Cheryl’s fee would probably be much smaller, maybe in the region of £3 million to £5 million, but bosses are confident she could be a very popular addition to the show.”

A Fox spokesperson declined to comment.

    What are you on esctoday????

Cheryl is nothing without X factor, the only 2 singles she released that were a success were fight for this love and promise this which she performed on x factor.

All the others flopped. She wasn’t a very good judge, she was only their because Cowell fancied her as the next Dannii and had a crush on her, but the fox bosses didnt have time for Cowell’s games and she was gone.

Her latest single, also was another flop. Cheryl is finished. She once claimed she would never go back to Girls Aloud, and now she is.

Her latest single will be published not until 10.6, it will be success. Fox bosses didn´t fired her, it was Cowell, that is fact, also Cowell regrets that decision, fact too.
