Ryan Seacrest to stay on ‘American Idol’
Host of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest, has had the speculation over his plans to leave the show quashed after it was reportedly announced yesterday that he will remain on the show for the next two series.
Rumours that the popular host was set on leaving the hit US talent show began several weeks ago, with sources claiming that the radio presenter and producer of shows for the E! network was considering following in the footsteps of other show personalities such as Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul and departing the show he has hosted from the very start, to embark on new projects.
The reported development comes from media industry publications, citing unnamed sources, who claim that Seacrest has signed a two-year contract extension at an estimated $15 million a year. However, a Fox spokesperson declined to comment on any details of the deal.
Fox did release a statement, however, in which show creator, Simon Fuller made a point of acknowledging Seacrest’s importance to the show, commenting that the host had been with the program “from the very first day,” as well as adding: “I can’t imagine the show without him.”
In a previous statement released by Seacrest himself, he confirmed his desire to stay on the award-winning show, stating:”It’s been a wild ride, and I’m excited for my journey with ‘American Idol’ to continue.
