Liverpool residents are said to be up in arms, after a teaser was released for a brand new TV show filmed in the region.
It seems that Scousers are not fans of the new reality TV series This Is Liverpool, which will kick off on E4 next month.
Bosses are airing an initial pilot episode, in the hope that the programme will be recommissioned for a full run and it sounds like they’re playing up the sleaze angle, in a bid to attract younger viewers.
A short clip was released on Youtube this week and already it’s had more than 200,00 views, as people around the UK watched stars of the show embroiled in screaming arguments, stripping off, showing their bums, romping in a less than private setting, using the most filthy of expletives and one girl tells the camera that she was “born a boy”.
However Scousers are fearful that the show will be damaging to Liverpool’s reputation and that the city will be negatively affected in the way that James Turner Street in Birmingham was run down in the aftermath of Channel 4’s Benefits Street this year.
As a result community leaders have launched a petition against the show being broadcast and last night more than 400 people had signed the document, titled “do not broadcast the disgrace that is This Is Liverpool”.
400 people are not likely to sway channel bosses, who will be hoping to draw in millions of viewers for their new programme.
Liverpool’s Lord Mayor has been amongst the show’s greatest detractors, but participant Chelsey Harwood showed some of the spirit that landed her a place in the cast and she tweeted yesterday saying:
“Oh the f***ing Lord Mayor of Liverpool can suck my cock in a jar.”
Of course we couldn’t leave you without sharing the teaser. Have a watch and let us know what you think in the comments section below….
