Should Big Brother housemates be told about Michael Jackson’s death?
In the wake of the sad news that Michael Jackson has died, many messages on internet forums are calling for Big Brother bosses to pass the news on to the housemates.
What do you think? Should they be told the news or should BB stick firmly to the rules about not letting the housemates know anything that’s going on in the outside world?

No, I can’t see why they should be told. If you tell them that then there are good reasons to tell them other things going on in the news.
For instance, maybe Siavash should know about the troubles in Iran then? (I think he’s Iranian?)

I think they should be told. Michael Jacskon’s death is as shocking as Princess Diana’s. With regards to letting Siavash know about the troubles in Iran is not the same…problems in Iran has been brewing before the housemates went into the house.
Therefore house mates hould be told. Although the news is very sad, it is momentous like the inauguration of president Obama.
His inauguration was shown to the celebrity housemates.
No!!!! the rules are no news from the outside world. What is the point of telling them, it will make no difference they would not be going to a funeral or sending flowers would they. The only time they should be told about anything happening in the outside world is if it is someone in the family is ill/dies so they can decide what they want to do. Any other news should be saved for when they come out, Farrah Fawcett died yesterday as well should they be told that where would it end, I wouldn’t have even said it would have been necessary to tell them about Princess Diana its not personal. When they signed for the programme they knew the rules and agreed to them, not telling them will not alter anything so there is no point to change the rules.
I think the housemates are entitled to know about MJ death.
He’s a total legend, and i think the housemates will be gutted when they find out about him passing away 2 or so months after, so i really don’t think it’s fair.
Like everyone is saying, last year they should the housemates the Obama video which is the from the outside world.
And to be quite honest i don’t think Ferrah is as important, as MJ. Yeah shes amazing, but theres no comparison to MJ

I still do not see what difference it will make waiting till
they come out to know, if they are MJ fans they will be upset
he has died and knowing a couple of months later will not
alter anything they will still be upset. They are unlikely to
go over to America for the funeral so I cannot see that they
need to be told. The American presidency thing was on Celebrity
Big Brother and they had Americans in there so it was important
that they knew what was going on a very different thing
entirely, Americans are very serious about there presidency
and to watch this was about patriarchy and loyalty to the USA.
Michael Jacksons death was tragic, he was a legend and his
music will be greatly missed but it is not the same as the presidency. We do not even know if the housemates like MJ and
what would happen if one of them was a real fanatic being in
the house may be to much for them and they would leave and
what good would that do, or it could cause trouble if some were distressed but others didn’t like him and thought they were
being OTT. It would also bring the mood of the house right
down and I cannot see what good that would do, no they
shouldn’t be told.
Big brother should show their respect by breaking this ‘no news from the outside’ rule on this one occasion. MJ was a legend afterall.
Whether you’re a true fan of Michael Jackson’s or not, I personaly feel people would want to witness this historic event. So what if it shakes things up in the big brother house. MJ to many is like family…people have grown up with him in their life, so it’s only fair. Big Brother rules aren’t set in stone. He’s a legend and Big Brother should show respect by telling the housemates.
YES THEY SHOULD BE TOLD i emailed big brother reps and they said the reason they cant be told is as it will break the rules regarding infomation from the outside world which is alot of bs the celeb housemates where told about obama an that breaks the rules
they should be told, he was a part of history, they may be fans in there some may not be out the house for ages yet the funeral will be over by then, big brother u should tell em!!!!!!!
Tell them! more gossip for the housemates and more views! even though it is very sad news, but that’s the point, its interesting to watch someone hear about this because they don’t know yet! but either way, they will find out sooner or later.
to be honest, if big brother did tell them MJ was dead, i doubt they would even believe it until they see all the press when they get out. so telling them now is just pointless.
yes , because , they showed celeb housemates barack obama speech and now they sayin they cant know about mj is dead , both are outside world , if the current housemates arent famous they should not treat them differently
i think they should be told and they should have a chance to morn his death exactally like anyone else, but i think it would be nice if they had a tribute night to him where big brother provide costumes(from his videos) for the housemates and play his music into the house or something? possibly a task where they dance to thriller? just to do something nice for the housemates and the spirit and legend of what is michael jackson! as we all know both jamaine and latoya where in big brother after all? and i dont know hwat kind of contracts the contestents sign but will some of them possible be mad and take legal action? i say tell them
they should be told and there should be a special task just for him. this death is huge and they have the right to know. rules are made to be broken and i think this is a good enough reason to break it. some of them might be huge fans and will be upset for not finding out with the rest of the world.
i think they should be told!By the time their out he could be burid.Sure didint they tell housemates a score of a football match and they wont tell them about the death of MJ.They have rights to know.And if you do tell them BB would propably get more intresting.RIP KING OF POP!!..

Yes the housemates shld be told off this very sad news,I understand that they r not allowed 2 no whats happening in the outside world, but this isn’t something small, Michael Jackson is a legend, do u think that because the current housemates are not famous they should be treated different, because that excatly what BB is saying…the famous housemates where allowed to watch when President Obama was sworn in, so the current housemates must be beneath them..I for one think that BB decision is disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves…let the current housemates know and give them a chance to morn like evey other person if that what they choose… BB have know right to stop them from being able to watch the memorial service along with eveyone else.
yes they should be told. it would bring great ratings for channel 4 and they should know that a legened like him had passed away. the ratings would be fantastic if their was a michael hackson tribute task or day where they were told and shown parts of the memorial service. we need to tell channel 4 to do this
