Singer and actor and, let’s face it, babe magnet Keith Duffy is currently in training for his participation in ITV’s Splash! which kicks off its second series tonight at 7.20pm…
However, Keith – who formerly starred in Coronation Street – has also been busy with the Boyzone reunion, and it was while he was performing live with the his band mates Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch that Keith learned his house had been burgled in his absence.
The Mirror reports, “Gardai are investigating the burglary at his home in North Dublin, which happened while Duffy was playing at the O2 in London on December 20 as part of Boyzone’s 20 year anniversary tour.”
Keith’s wife Lisa and their two children were also at the concert, and so their home was empty when the raiders struck. It’s understood Keith’s neighbours alerted the Gardai while the burglars were inside the property.
However, though Keith has made no mention of the robbery on Twitter, on New Year’s Day, he wrote, “Let’s greet the New Year with an open heart with open arms but most important an open Mind.
“Only look down on people with a helping hand up.”
Prior to that, on December 30th, Keith posted the image above with the simple comment, “Love you buddy @shanelynchlife”
Meanwhile, on New Year’s Eve, Keith’s band mate Ronan wrote on Twitter, “To all my true friends & family who stood by me & helped me through. Thankyou.
“I love you & I will always be there 4 you 2. Here’s to 2014 x”
The reunion of Boyzone for their twentieth anniversary has of course been an occasion heavily tinged with sadness given that Stephen Gately wasn’t there to enjoy the events surrounding it. He of course died suddenly in October 2009 at his home in Port d’Andratx, Majorca. His death was caused by a pulmonary edema, resulting from an undiagnosed heart condition. He was just 33 years old.
Here’s a reminder of an emotional interview with Stephen’s band mates soon after they learned of his tragic death…
