Splash! judges Jo Brand and Leon Taylor could be chucked overboard ahead of series two!

Fans of ITV’s Splash! – which ended its first run last night with Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards diving to victory – were initially surprised that comedienne Jo Brand was on the judging panel of the show, given that – fab though she is – she’s not remotely athletic…

However, it seems that both Jo and fellow judge Leon Taylor could be ditched ahead of a second series of the diving show, as ITV execs want to make the second series, “sexier.”

It’s believed that among a host of revamp ideas, Olympic diver and current mentor Tom Daley could become a judge and ITV may bring in pop stars to perform on live shows.

The Daily Star adds, “In addition, each celebrity could perform two dives instead of one. And the show may relocate from Luton to the Olympic Park.”

A show insider said, “Despite the backlash from critics, Splash! has been a big hit with the viewers, so it makes sense to bring it back.

“ITV execs know a lot has to be ¬improved to make it as slick a ¬production as Dancing On Ice and Strictly.

“Top of the agenda is giving Tom a more high-profile role, with ¬promotion to head judge the most likely outcome.”

Apparently, Tom’s coach Andy Banks will remain on the judging panel, and Vernon Kay and Gabby Logan are likely to continue as hosts.

The insider added, “The feeling is the judging panel and production could be improved.

“They want the show to be more sexy, less cheesy.”

What changes would you make to the show? Or would you leave it as it is?

Here’s a reminder of one of winner Eddie’s dives…

Despite the critics, I really enjoyed the show and thought the winner was the right person. I love the diving team who perform for us mid show. They are absolutely incredible. I would rather watch them than have another pop group. So if anyone from ITV sees this, please keep them for the next series. They take your breath away!

on the panel i would have andy banks, tom daley, david walliams and eddie the eagle – i think eddie might make an excellent foil for david’s humour – other possiblilities for the panel are keith lemon, holly willoughby and sean lock
