Stephen Gately’s death was a “tragic accident”, it has been claimed.

Gately died last night, whilst on holiday with his long term partner.

Irish solicitor Gerald Kean, a spokesman for Gately’s family, told BBC News: “There’s no foul play involved and it’s not suicide. It’s just a tragic accident is what we’ve been told and we’re happy that that is correct information.

“There is nothing untoward, it’s not drugs, we don’t believe, it’s not suicide, it’s not murder, it’s not a fight. That’s what we’ve been told.”

Kean added, that the family are hoping to have Gately’s body at home by the end if the week.

Very sad and I hope the media just leave the family, his partner and the rest of Boyzone alone to greive in peace. My sympathies to the family.

My sympathies go out to Stephen Gately’s family on their loss.
