It has been rumoured for some time now that Susanna Reid would defect to ITV to front its new Breakfast TV show, Good Morning Britain, but nothing has officially been announced at the moment.

However, Reid’s split from partner Dominic Cotton has said to have thrown a huge spanner in the works for ITV as Reid’s personal life is now the big story, not the show itself, which has ultimately caused the new show to be pushed back slightly.

A source told The Sun that ITV had been expected to confirm Susanna’s signing yesterday afternoon, but her split from Cotton has caused anarchy over at ITV, which has resulted in the station denying that any changes are to be made soon.

Rumour had it that the new breakfast show, by the name of ‘Good Morning Britain’ was supposed to launch next week some time with Susanna Reid as the new face along with another male presenter, but a spokesman for the channel has said that some changes will be announced “in due course”.

At present, Susanna has not resigned from the BBC so it is thought that she will be back on BBC Breakfast on Monday morning. The new ITV replacement will now launch next month in April.

The newspaper goes on to add that Susanna’s busy schedule, which saw her commuting back and forth from London to Salford, put a lot of strain on her relationship with Cotton and rather than feeling like her partner, he almost became her personal assistant.

One ‘pal’ told the paper that he’d had enough of the 15-year romance and wanted out of the relationship. “She never even wanted to get married”.

The source added that the pair have known that their relationship has been over for some time, but they didn’t want to admit it so it came as a huge shock when she found out about his match.com dating profile, in which he describes himself as “trendy” and “attractive”.

So it looks like we’re going to have to wait just a little while longer for that announcement about Susanna moving over to ITV. But, will it be worth the wait? What do you think?
