The Bachelor cancelled after Spencer Matthews & Khloe Evans debacle!
Channel 5 has reportedly cancelled reality TV series The Bachelor.
The format is a huge success in the US and has run for over ten years in America, bringing in impressive ratings for each season. However it seems us Brits aren’t such big fans of the dating show, as it has apparently been axed after Channel 5 bosses picked it up for just two series.
Gavin Henson was the first to be featured, not long after his split from Welsh singer Charlotte Church but he failed to find a lasting relationship through the show.
He chose Carianne Barrow in the final filmed in St Lucia but just four months later the pair had split and were publicly slating each other in a number of publications.
Their dalliance seemed like a Disney romance though in comparison to the match between Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews and model Khloe Evans, as they didn’t even feign a relationship and didn’t see each other after the show ended.
In fact it very much seemed as though he never split from his girlfriend Louise Thompson while he took part in The Bachelor as they were together up to a week before filming began and a socialising as a couple again before the series even finished airing.
Khloe didn’t seem overly upset though and just days after the final was shown on Channel 5, she was spotted snogging TOWIE star Tom Pearce.
An insider said:
“The show didn’t do hugely well last year and Channel 5 are now giving it a rest.”
“But it is a good format and the owners have been sounding out other broadcasters to see if anyone else is up for taking it on.”
If anyone else does air The Bachelor, we would advocate either using normal members of the public as their leading men, or choosing real life celebrities who can at least keep up the pretence of a relationship during and after the show airs.
