The F Word: Gordon Ramsay Searches For The Next Fanny Cradock

Gordon Ramsay has announced that he is sick of seeing male chefs on TV and wants to find a modern day Fanny Craddock to raise the female profile in cooking.

Gordon told The Sun:

“The world needs a new female cook. I’m genuinely fed up with the glut of alpha male chefs crowding the screen and battling for supremacy.

“I’m horrified by the lack of women cooks – especially on TV. I want to fill the shoes of legendary TV cook Fanny Cradock.”

He will launch his Find Me A Fanny search in the new series of Channel 4’s Gordon Ramsay’s F Word on May 8.

A C4 spokesman said: “If you’re a woman and you think you can show Nigella Lawson and Delia Smith a thing or two, or even Gordon, then he wants you!

“When he finds the winner she’ll even get her own slot on The F Word.”

Gordon Ramsay’s F Word, C4, May 8, 9pm

Fanny Craddock was an icon of her time and showed thosands of women how they could cater in the home with glamour and style. If you are looking for a 2007 “new Fanny” she must be a “juggler” managing a job, active in the community, the bed-rock of her family AND a good cook - who knows how to create a fabulous “essence” of quality and fun in the kitchen. I’m not sure that I quite meet the grade - but I do buy the best ingredients I can find, cook with my family, take part in the odd triathlon, party hard, and travel to find out more about wine and tastes. I do juggle a career, a day as a hospice volunteer and family life. I have a great kitchen and I have lots of fun making food a key part of life. I also have a wonderful husband who plays a brilliant supporting role - particularly as wine waitor. So how do I find out more about this opportunity?
