The Safari School Finalists are Jeremy Sheffield and Carrie Grant with Claire King evicted.

All three semi finalists were challenged to the uttermost as each had to take one of the remaining contestants, plus an instructor, on a Game Drive, utilising all their learned skills to date.

Claire did very well until she had to communicate with Carrie on the radio as she was showing her party the elephants and Carrie wanted to bring her party in. She was disjointed and had to repeat herself, making a bad impression on the ranger who was testing her all round skills. She was also criticised for not making her description of the animals more interesting in her verbal description. The instructor remarked on her poor spotting ability. They were thrilled to come across the rare and very dangerous white rhino.

Jeremy impressed his party with his knowledge of the plants and animals and sensitivity to the animals, giving a running commentary on an elephant feeding off a tree. He handled his vehicle well but failed to impress the ranger with his careless swinging of his gun which he had to take with him when guiding his party on foot. His game approach was good.

Carrie was interesting, positive, communicated well on the radio but failed to turn off the engine when getting close to a rhino which could have caused problems. She showed her knowledge and control when an elephant, with flaring ears, stood in their path. Both she and the instructor were proud of the way she took control and managed to get the elephant to move on with out the expected trouble. The instructor said Carrie needed more driving experience as it is essential to be able to drive and talk to the passengers, while spotting the camouflaged animals in the bush.

Claire, Carrie and the testing ranger had to make a hasty departure from watching hippos in the water as one was obviously about to charge them, the warning being when a hippo yawns. They arrived safely back at their vehicle. It was very sad indeed to see Claire chosen to leave the camp because there was not enough time left to complete her training. She had fallen behind the other two contestants. The two remaining finalists will once again be seen on BBC2 at 6pm tomorrow.
