The Saturday Grease Chart: 12 May 2007
Phew, tough night on Grease Is The Word tonight. Much disappointment among the judges as they felt performances weren’t completely up to West-end standards.
Here’s who we thought were the best candidates on Grease this evening:
- Anthony & Alison – Tonight’s The Night. Rave reviews from the panels. If ever there was an act I’d consider to be a fix on this show it’s Kav and Alison. But then I have to grudgingly admit that Kav was fantastic this evening. Definitely the best performance of the night.
- Bradley & Michelle – Does Your Mother Know? Vocals were a little flat, but they really shone through in their performance. The chemistry between the two is excellent. David Ian thought that Bradley was the star of their performance tonight.
- Danny & Susan – Somewhere. Very good vocally, but a little less than inspiring. David Ian thought that it was a little too big for them whil David Gest thought Susan’s performance started weak but improved.
- Michael & Vicky – Don’t Stop Me Now. David Ian thought they did a great job and they were great entertainers while David Gest thinks that the chemistry between them is growing each week.
- Wayne & Hayley – Footloose. Their vocals were good, but the dancing and performance was boring. David Ian thought it was “ordinary”, while Brian Friedman said it was more like watching their rehearsal than the live performance.
- Danny & Lauren – Circle Of Life. Worst performance of the evening. It came across as boring and Danny looked uncomfortable. David Gest said it wasn’t their best performance.
There was a hint from the judges that they think some couples are mismatched. I wonder if they’ll shake things up next week and rearrange the couples that aren’t working so well together?
Update: Wayne and Hayley got evicted after a sing-off against Bradley and Michelle. This new voting arrangement where the judges get the final say is great insurance against a stronger act getting voted off. We’ll talk more about that later…
