The Voice: Leanne Mitchell’s debut single flops in chart!

Oh dear, The Voice has been dealt another huge blow as winner Leanne Mitchell’s début single, Run To You, has flopped quite dramatically.

Despite the bubbly singer being crowned the first winner of The Voice UK during Saturdays final, her single, which was released through Universal Records, has only reached No27 in midweek UK charts, having only sold 6,527 copies.

Even more depressing for the singer is the fact that her show rival, Bo Bruce’s EP, Search The Night, which was originally released two years ago, is currently residing at the N05 position above her in the charts, as well as Gary Barlow’s Jubilee song already having sold nearly 90,000 copies!

This comes as a huge blow to the show, who bosses have confirmed will be revamped for next year due to the huge disappointment in viewing figures, especially when you consider that every winner of the X Factor has bagged a N01 hit!

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Leanne is the people’s champ but maybe those people aren’t record buyers. She’s an amazing singer but not someone the kids — who download singles — are going to get behind.”

Producers of the show, who were expecting at least a top 5 response to the single, are now worried that this set back, along with the failed viewing figures,  will affect the shows planned live tour which is due to begin in September!

I saw that coming. The wrong people were in the final and the wrong one won. That’s why it’s flopped. Another reason is because the show itself is crap too.
