The Voice UK: Danny O’Donoghue doesn’t see BGT as a rival show

The Voice coach – and lead singer of The Script – Danny O’Donoghue can’t see why people consider The Voice and Britain’s Got Talent to be rival shows, since he believes there’s “room for both.”

He also pointed out that with the ability to record shows, or catch up with them online, nobody need ever miss out on either show, even if they were still clashing in their timeslots.

Speaking to Radio 1’s Newsbeat, Danny said, ”In a day and age when you can watch anything at any time, I don’t really see why they needed to pit them against each other.

”There really is room for both. We didn’t see it as much of a competition because we’re totally different shows.”

During the interview, Danny – who landed the role of coach on The Voice despite competition from music industry big hitters Mary J Blige and Will Young – also revealed that he thinks it’s thanks to his experience in The Script that he won the coveted coaching spot…

He said, ”I think what I had to offer was the fact that we’ve done things the hard way, we’ve been around the circuit.

“I’m the only one up there that’s been in a band. I was dibs in.”

Erm, what about and his little outfit, Black Eyed Peas? Faux pas, much?

While watching “The Voice” when it 1st started, Danny O’Donoghue would NOT turn unless someone else did, it just seemed as though he didnt have the confidence (guts)….. I personaly think it was a bad choice on the part of the BBC
& think it would have been a lot better with 2 females & 2 males, then “Jessie J” (on her own) would not stand out so much
