The Voice UK presenter Reggie Yates defends the show, saying “We did a bloody good job”

The Voice UK presenter Reggie Yates has hit out at critics of the show, saying that comparisons between The Voice and X Factor are “unfair” because The Voice has only had one series when compared to X Factor’s long track record.

However, he did concede that mistakes were made in The Voice UK’s first outing, but promised that when it returns to the BBC in 2013, the show will reflect the “learning and improving” ethos that’s currently being worked into the new series.

Reggie told the Sun, “If you look at the first episode to the final, you can see the production, the lighting got better.

“We got better, everything got better week on week because we were learning.

“To compare us to The X Factor which has been on for nine years just feels unfair…

“We’d just started and if you rule out all the comparisons and look at what we did then I think you’d see we did a bloody good job first time around.”

And of course, BBC Controller Danny Cohen has also remarked that the corporation will be working on ironing out flaws in the show for its return next year.

He said, “We’ll take away a few things from the live shows to tinker with for series two.”

Finally, Reggie revealed that he doesn’t know if he himself will be back next year.

He said, “None of us know yet if we’ll be back on The Voice.

“I’m sure there are lots of conversations happening at the BBC, but you know what it’s like with these big entertainment shows, everyone finds out at the last minute.

“I’m waiting much like everything else. I want to be back, if it happens, I’d be chuffed to be back, because it’s so much fun.”

He added, “I really enjoyed working with Holly. We’ve known each other for a long time and it’s always cool working with people you have a bit of history with.”

Would you like to see Reggie back next year?

The Voice is just a low quality version of the X factor. It’s far more boring and not watchable at all.
