The Voice UK: Reggie Yates says the show is “doing much better than it should be for its first series”

Radio 1 DJ and The Voice co-presenter Reggie Yates has told Heat magazine that he’s not at all concerned over the fact that The Voice has been losing viewers week on week since it launched.

And in a glass-half-full sort of an interview, Reggie insisted that the show’s ratings are “much better” than they should be, given it’s only in its first series.

Which really is either Reggie being fiercely loyal or terribly naïve, given that the last live show was watched by just over 5million viewers, which is a full 50% less than the figures when the show first began.

Nonetheless, when asked if there had been any crisis talks at the BBC over the figures, Reggie said, “Honestly, we’ve not spoken about it and I don’t think we will.”

He added, “I didn’t get into this to be on the most watches show on TV, and even if we did get five million, like every over show has got on their first series, it would still be the biggest show I have ever done…

“It’s doing much better than it should be for its first series.”

And furthermore, Reggie says that even if the viewing numbers fall yet further, the show will still be back next year.

He said, “Even if we went down to something stupid like a million viewers, I think we’d still be on again.”

Are you one of the many viewers who no longer watches the show? And if so, why did you stop watching?
