Last we heard was that The Only Way Is Essex stars, Gemma Collins and James Argent were most definitely NOT a couple, and scenes at the end of the TOWIE summer special, The Only Way Is Marbs,which saw Gemma slapping her almost naked thigh whilst waving her head and finger telling Arg, ‘you aint never gonna get with this’ (or similar chavy words to that effect), certainly suggested that this was the happiest ending that this car-crash, media-forced relationship could have hoped for.

But it appear we were wrong, as since the cameras stopped rolling, this pair of unlikely, likely’s, have worked things out and from the ashes of Marbella has emerged a blossoming romance.

"You aint never gonna get with this"

At first the pair insisted that despite spending all their time together that they were only friends (who stayed in the same hotel room as pictures proved), but in recent weeks the truth has started to leak out, slowly but surely.

First to crack was Gemma who, when quizzed over the relationship, told Entertainmentwise website to “watch this space”, followed by a rather obvious string of tweets from Arg on social networking site, Twitter.

The larger than life Dean Martin wannabe tweeted:

“Thought i was gonna be depressed coming back 2 England but the weather is Reem! Unpacked and ready for a certain someone to see me! #HurryUp”

If you were left wondering who he was talking about, he later followed that tweet up with another one saying her was at  the 16th birthday party of Casey Pratt with Gemma.

A few days later the ex boyfriend of Mark Wright, I mean Lydia Bright, tweeted to followers the news that he was eating at  Torri restaurant, but it “wasn’t the same without” Gemma.

Then, in case there was any confusion left, he tweeted a picture of Gemma, who has previously said he would never be seen out with or even kiss on the mouth until she lost some weight, lounging on a sofa next to a cocktail, with the caption accompanying it claiming he was missing the larger than life reality star:

“In bed after a great night, Eduardo’s then BushWhackers lol. Only thing missing is my Diana Doors! X” (Dainna Doors is the pet name he has given her, FYI).

Then, happy to be able to finally gush about their relationship, the couple were revealed in pictures in the Daily Mail newspaper, that were  kept well away from the TOWIE Marbella cameras as they posed in a Titanic ‘King of the world’ style on board a ship (She is getting a bit weird about posing like Kate Winslet in that film, don’t you think?)

However, despite this influx of OTT PDA’s, Arg insists their new relationship will not be played in front of the cameras in the next series of the show (probably because he is planning to dump her before filming stars) telling the newspaper:

“The great thing about us is that everything between us has happened off camera,” he said.

“I don’t like to sound arrogant, but if there’s one person who doesn’t need a storyline, it would be me.

“I had the most airtime of all on series five, and the Gemma situation only got revealed in the last episode. I don’t need to go on camera and fake anything.”

“I’m really fond of her. I think she brings out the best in me. You know, the old Arg.

“I had a bad phase when I broke up with Lydia [Bright] and Gemma’s the best thing that’s happened to me since.”

Meanwhile Gemma revealed to Closer magazine: “Since we got back, we’ve been spending lots of time in Essex at each other’s houses, listening to The Backstreet Boys! I’m so happy – he makes me feel special.”
