After we reported last month that The Only Way Is Essex star, Cara Kilbey, had been charged with drink driving, we can now reveal that the reality star has been found guilty of all charges, and had her licence suspended for two years.
The Daily Mail reported back in January how Cara, whose brother Tom is dating original TOWIE cast member, Lydia Bright, reportedly smashed her black Mercedes into another car in Camden before driving away in the early hours of Saturday morning, under the influence of alcohol.
According to the publication, the reality star was arrested at around midnight on Friday after officers witnessed her driving erratically resulting in her hitting the car in question.
A spokesperson for the police confirmed at the time that a 24-year-old was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failing to stop after an accident, and had been bailed awaiting a court appearance at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, which took place on February 1st, resulting in the judge informing her that she banned from driving for the next two years.
However, the star, who The Daily Mail reports pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol in Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday (February 1), insists that there was no other car involved in her crime, taking to social networking site, Twitter, to tell followers:
“Finally my court case is over. Pleaded guilty to drink driving and THERE WAS NO CAR CRASH. Hope others can learn from my mistakes.”
This couldn’t come at a worse time for Cara, whose future in TOWIE looks rather uncertain following both her brother, ex Portsmouth FC player Tom Kilbey, and his girlfriend, Lydia Bright leaving the show last year.
However a source told MailOnline that Cara, as with all the members of cast, will still meet with producers of the show to discuss her part, if any, in the next series of the show when it begins filming later this year.
