The Only Way Is Essex star, Lucy Mecklenburgh faced one of those moments all girls hope to avoid like the plague on Saturday night when she bumped straight into her ex, former TOWIE star Mark Wright, on a hot date with his new girlfriend, Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan!
Lucy, who fans of the hit ITV2 reality show will know has had a turbulent year in her own love-life having demoted her relationship status with co-star Mario Falcone from engaged to just boyfriend and girlfriend, arrived at Alec’s restaurant in Essex with a friend for a meal, only to find Mark, who she famously cheated on Mario with back in 2011, already there, wining and dining the soap star.
Not just that, but at the very moment Lucy entered the restaurant Mark had swapped the delicious cuisine of the popular eatery for a spot of tonsil tennis with Michelle, who broke off her engagement to The Wanted’s Max George last year also.
Lucy was, according to the Daily Mail newspaper, “surprised” to bump in to the pair, but instead of turning quickly on her heels and heading for the nearest MacDonald’s, asked discreetly to be seated away from the happy couple!
Not that it made much difference as Mark and Michelle were so wrapped up in each other they barely noticed Lucy and spent the entire night kissing and whispering sweet nothings to one another, barely touching the lobsters and oysters they had ordered to eat!
Mark and Michelle were first linked to each other romantically at New Year after they were spotted bringing in 2013 together at a party in Dubai, although sources close to the couple have since revealed they had been seeing each other a long time before but had managed to keep it private not wanting the media pressure to dictate the future of their relationship.
During last month’s National Television Awards Mark confirmed once and for all that they were in deed a couple, saying: “Things are going really well and at the moment I’m very happy.
“I’m having lots of fun with her. She’s a gorgeous girl.”
Meanwhile Mark’s former TOWIE co-stars have all expressed their delight at his new-found happiness, even another one of his exes, Sam Faiers who recently revealed that he had always fancied Michelle, who plays surrogate bar maid Tina McIntyre in the award-winning ITV soap. She told new! Magazine about the first time she met Michelle, saying: “She was really nice. I got a picture of her and Mark and Arg were jealous. They both fancied her. I think they are a great couple. I heard that Mark’s mum and dad went out with her a few times and really like her!”
