Trinny and Susannah: Susannah As A 70 Year Old!
First Trinny donned prosthetic 32D boobs to launch the series of Trinny and Susannah Undress the Nation, and now for this week’s programme on ‘Age’ Susannah faced her own body demons and was aged 25 years to how she may look at 70, thanks to prosthetics and a full body suit.
When Susannah saw herself for the first time she could hardly believe her 70-year-old eyes.
“Oh my god I think I’m going to start crying, that is such a shock. I daren’t look, I just caught a flash of myself and I don’t think I can look again,” she said.
Staring back into the mirror she said: “You poor soul. I look just like my mother. My heart is going at 100 miles an hour. There is no f***ing way I’m going to look like this when I’m 70-years-old because I will not dress like this, I will not have my hair like this, I will not allow my face to become like this.”
Susannah spent four hours in a body and face cast to produce a mould for the suit and mask to be created from. The final look took over 100 hours of work, plus four hours to be fitted to Susannah, and even included aging her hands and knees with prosthetic wrinkles.
To enable such a drastic transformation plastic surgeon David Ross and a prosthetics technician Krystian Mallet predicted how Susannah may age using photos of her from 26 to 45-years-old and then Krystian produced a realistic prosthetic mask and body suit.
During the consultation Dr Ross analysed how Susannah’s face is aging. “I think the key thing here is as you age you lose volume in the face and the tissues become thin and they tend to head south.”
As he demonstrates how her brow has dropped Susannah said: “I can see that I’m going to have a full face lift after this!”
Krystian then produced three graphic images of how Susannah may look as an old woman as a guide to what her prosthetic mask will look like.
Susannah said: “When I see this I do see my mother, I see my mother. I just can’t believe it, it is so depressing. I am so horrified by this whole thing.
“On the one hand I find it so appalling that the older generation are ignored by magazines and retailers. And on the other I myself am petrified of getting old so I think it’s going to be very important for me to somehow see the world from their eyes.”
Trinny said of her friend’s transformation: “Susannah, it does scare her more, one of her biggest fears is her fear of growing old. But she doesn’t verbalise that so I understand why.”
Trinny then expressed her own thoughts on aging: “I’m very driven and full of energy, and permanently pushing myself so I don’t allow myself to think about it. I do everything I can to fight it, and I feel 25 anyway so I feel that part of my life is a long way to come.”
When Susannah showed Trinny her new look she said: “It’s given me the biggest kick up the arse, it’s just not going to happen.”
Susannah: “I feel so borderline suicidal at the moment that if you can find a way to make me look better like this I’ll feel a lot better about getting old.”
When Trinny saw graphics of how she may look aged 70 she was horrified: “I must never go in the sun again.”
Trinny and Susannah Undress the Nation, Tuesday at 8pm on ITV1.
