WHEN WOMEN RULE THE WORLD: Channel 4
Imagine a world where women are in charge of absolutely everything and men just have to do as they’re told: the ultimate girl power universe. New entertainment series When Women Rule the World does exactly that, putting eight feisty females in charge of ten macho males, and challenging them to create their own utopia on a beautiful Caribbean island.
There is only one rule: women rule, men obey. The men have to do anything and everything their mistresses desire, and each week the man that doesn’t measure up will be “sacrificed” and sent away from the island. Steve Jones hosts.

Directed at ShyBoy25: this show is offensive to women and not men! The women are bossy, slightly dim and power-crazed. This is representative of how most females would act in this situation. Actually, the men are presented as sensible, when surely the candidates both male and female were chosen based on similar guidelines.
But agreeing with the first post as the ultimate point: the show is called ‘When Women Rule the World’ implying that men rule the world outside this fictional universe

I think this show illustrates to us about what women would be like if feminism went to far however also in many countries, men have total domination over women. In this position women are portrayed in shows over powerment over men and we do have to remember some parts of the show are created for entertainment purposes.

I think this is absolute Bullshit. It portays nothing but a bad image of women. we men don’t boss around women like that. Femnism has gone to far in some cases in the sense that women don’t equality power. the point is if women were equal then the show wouldnt be what it is. 3 major things are wrong with it:
1) When Women rule the world: Feminism is not about ruling the world its about equality between the 2 sexes this program doesn’t help it in any way possible
2) female portrayal: the women are dressed in skimpy clothes, and are just posers. atleast 90% of women probably don’t dress like that on a daily basis and with the way things have moved along in life women wouldn’t be dressing like that anyway, they would look respectable and portray a good image of a role model to younger women.
The point is women are nothing like taht, they shouldn’t be portrayed like that and can truly amount to alot. i am a man an i believe in reason and equality and simply there are stupid men out there that can’t listen to reason but this porgram also objectifies and makes women look stupid.

When women rule the world - i believe the show attempts to reverse our normally patriarchal society, by giving women power. I believe that the show is not representative of our real society. The show exaggerates the power of the dominant sex.
However in our modern day society power distribution and divisions of labour ae now in place. It is a concern that due to the effects of feminism we may be moving in the opposite direction (while improving women’s rights, we may be decreasing men’s).
Feminism isn’t the belief that women should be in charge of men, but equal to them, but is more the belief that women should not be oppressed and, or exploited by men.
However it can be argued that Femininsm is going “too far” i agree with this statement because now that women have in some places broken the glass-ceiling and broken the boundaries between the two sexes, they believe that they can control the rest of female attributes.
In conclusion i believe the program is out of proportion and not representative of feminist goals.

I think this shows is trying to say that if women ruled then men would be treated like this…..if people watch wife swap you would see that sometimes men in that program treat women like that (unbelievable but true). I believe this is a very stupid show making women come across has bitches when we are actually not and i also think that channel 4 chose women like these to make it more entertaining…it is funny. I don’t think this to do with feminism people are just thinking that because all feminism seem to want to do is bring equality between genders I’m sure they don’t want women to rule the world.

This show is an absolute FAKE, it does not establish the reality of a woman’s action…they portray women to be some sort of disturbed animal…which is not at all true. If this is a reality show then where is the reality people?…Do you really think women are as aggressive and dominant as it show on TV? This show reflects how people may feel towards women and the intimidation of women being in a higher status than men. Feminism has a great affect on society however, this is not a notion to be dominant…it is for EQUAL rights for both men and women.

The show doesn’t emphasise equality, and it’s not a true picture of society either. It makes women appear as controlling and aggressive when they are definately not like that in reality. It makes feminism look like an aim to make women more dominant than men, when it is actually meant to be about equality between both of them. The show is only there for entertainment and doesn’t truthfully represent society.

this show personally has no meaning to it.i think it’s a waste of time.trying to prove someting that is not even true, protraying women has “demanding and controlling” which is not really the case in society today,moreover this show make women seem more ‘insistent’this can reflect negative viewpoints on women.subsequently this show’s the negative side of women and not the positive side making them look more ‘aggresive’although women are not really that in reality it makes women look stupid and silly in society it will be seen as ‘abnormal’ for a women to behave like this as usually men have the upper hand although this could be contradicted in many ways.

i dont think this show reflects how society is suppose to be. This show implies that it is right for woman to treat men badly which is wrong either way both women and men should be treated equally and fairly. It is good to see that women are starting to become more independent and strong women but that doesnt mean they should take advantage and make themselves superior to men. This television is also unrealistic because in society women will not be acting like wild animals because its unusual. This creates a confusion on what the purpose of this programme is meant to be.

This show shows many forms of inequality, showing women like animals and very domineering and men just obeying everything they say, which is not how it really is in reality. This show does seem to show how the world would be like if Feminism went too far and took over, however this is an entertainment show therefore many women will be different to how they are in reality for entertainment purposes.

The very idea of debating a world ruled by women is adversative to a commitment to equality.
I’m not sure at what point … women decided … we wanted to get rid of men … and I believe such insights breed more unhelpful insights that involve little more than ridiculous mockery on the superiority of one sex over another.
So, to come to a conclusion … I have to say, a world which looks very much the same but with more middle-class women having upholding systems of global inequality … IS NOT ONE THAT I LOOK FORWARD TO.

“When women rule the world” is extreamally unreaslistic and pointless. The show does not portray women in a good light and gives the impression that if women had more power in society today, they would react by ordering men about and treating them like animals, which is not fair. The women were overwhelmed by power they clearly did not have in their every day life, they took it too far and made the men look like idiots.

this show is a joke and if it were to be considered anything but, it could be seriously damaging to both women and men in society. The women in the show obviously can’t handle power, yet there are so many influencial women in the uk who can, without any implication of it having gone to their heads. Likewise there are a lot of men who can handle answering to a womans authority yet the ones on this show are portrayed as arrogant and egotistcal! the whole show was a terrible idea and should be taken with a huge dose of salt.

I Totally agree with what A. Man said. Change the name to WHEN MEN RUEL THE WORLD and the amount of people that would protest against it would double. Reading between the lines, the context has adressed alot bases for arguments between gender. Simply this show has taken patriachal view, Flipped the gender and Esaggerated it immensely for entertainment purposes. But as for its representation of society in reality it is completely false, Shows men as slaves and shows women as Power hungry slave drivers.
Its so True. This worls is full of double standards.

I think that the show has the right idea in showing what it would be like with a female dominating society, and has an interesting idea to it, but i think it is weird how women are shown to be monsters and look obsessed with gaining status over men, and treating them like dogs!
I also think that this programme cannot be taken as serious as we would like as both the dominating females and slaved men are bound to play up to the camera for entertainment purposes, and make things look much more extremed than normal.
The programme does have the right idea, and may resemble a society if feminism is to go too far, and women become more independent and less dependent on a male role in their lives.
The programme has the right idea, but i do think that it is exaggerated purely for the cameras!

This show is just dumbness. people talk about how men ‘rule’ the world in the sense that men get more jobs and women aren’t treated as equals. this show is just parading women around on an island making men to be their dogs. the thing is the portrayal of the way women are ruling their isnt how men actually ‘rule the world’. It just makes women look bad and there is no point to this show. zero entertainment value and i can’t see why anybody would wan’t to watch it. the concept was good the execution of the concept wen straight through the floor and hit rock bottom

I feel that this show portrays the wrong image of women and the wrong perception of feminism. Feminism is about women having equal rights rather than having full control over society.
Obviously the women in this show are strong willed and hard headed, therefore they all have strong opinions. So they have been selected on purpose in order to create conflict not just between the men and women on the island but also within the controlling party (women). This then shows that the women’s conflicting interests are attempted to be solved through arguing. In addition this doesn’t give a good impression of them nor their ability to control a society as it actually shows that they lack control, to the men.
As a whole I believe that the show tries to convey the idea that women were never made nor meant to have control over men. However this isn’t what feminists want to achieve yet instead this show makes it look like they try to achieve the dominating role of the genders. Although they just want to achieve equality.

I think that the show showed women being bad rulers as they were overly obsessed with feminine dominance which shows society that they would not be able to handle having a higher domination as women are emotional and let their feelings get in the way. But you could also say that the way women are portrayed in this programme is exegerated for entertainment purposes. If women were meant to have a big role in society in wouldn’t be so hard to achieve it now, therefore women should be happy with what feminism has achieved so far.

I think this programme portrays the wrong side of feminism. This show also shows a bad image of women, I feel as though they could of showed feminism in a more positive way rather than treating men like slaves. Many viewers like myself find this offensive as its rude and unecessary. However this show is interesting but I feel as though they could of portrayed it more positive.

I find it very funny because of how they are trying to make it seem how things would be “IF” women ruled the world. After watching this episode i think they have lost the whole point in showing how women fighting for equality . I do not think this is a good example of showing how things would be like “IF” women did rule the world. Over all i really find the show funny because it has nothing to do with women fighting for equality it just shows a womans dream of having a man wrapped around their little finger. This program is should be based on entertainment and not a n example of how things could be if women ruled the world. I also agree with Robert that men do not treat women the way the women were treating men, and be sides that i just want to shout out to all my class mates in sociology lol.

I think even though this show is fake and just for entertainment i also think it gives a good insight into what society would be like if women completly had all the power in society.most probably women in reality would not be as controlling or crazy as the women in the show but if you gave a lot of women the chance to have the main control in society,they would forget about trying to create equality and focus more on having power over men.women have been fighting for so long to have equality or a main say in society that if that chance was given to them , who could say they wouldnt abuse the power given to them.
Feminism was not about getting women to have the ultimate power in society but was instead to create equality for women.This show not only potrays women in a bady way but shows them as over controlling and confused on how to handle power. I dont agree with the way the show potrays women but i do think it allows us to see whether most women care about equality or having more power over men.

It is possible that this show is trying to promote equality for women within the society we live in today, showing women as strong and independent characters and a complete role reversal of the patriarchal situation we currently live in. Rising as well. Many people have the wrong perception of feminists, thinking that they are all men haters and thinks women should rule the world! This is incorrect and in reality they are truly fighting for the rights of women, which have always been unequal to those of their male counterparts. However this show, gives the complete wrong impression of the movement and what all women worldwide want to achieve through campaigning! Using models, who have perfect hair and make up whilst being on a desert island shows women objectifyjng themselves, which is one of the main things feminists fight for!
