I may have been a sad, boring person but basically I loved Castaway. it had all the right elements, but somehow just failed to grab enough attention. i can only presume that the general public have to see celebrities squabbling, or deliberatly chosen oddballs in the BB house before they feel they've got their money's worth. Take a number of fairly normal people, with a wide range of ages, intelligences, skills and personalities, and place them fairly gently in a nice place, and leave them to find themselves. Seems like a good idea for evening entertainment on the tv. it was a shame in a way that so many of the younger ones seemed not to try to make the most of this experience. Spending hours curled up asleep during the day, and mocking the efforts of the older ones to try to form a commmunity. I'm sure that the results of this program, especially the brilliant John, could be studied as a socail experiment for years. I'm upset to hear of the fall in ratings. It was the highlight of my week, second only to Dr Who.
Incidently, I hate Big Brother, and the Celebrity jungle thing. The only other really good show like this was Channel 4's 'Survivor' - which also left normal people to get on with it - more-or-less anyway.

I really like this show and set my Sky Plus to record the shows on BBC3 so that I don't miss any. John is a real character and I hope that they don' vote him off as he makes great TV. I would go on this show just to loose the sort of weight that Big Al has. I will def stick to it to the end. I was interested in how it shows the difference in values between the middle aged castaways and the young ones. I was shocked when some of the young castaways were happy to steal of each other and did not see why this was wrong. The only young one that has come out of the show with true strength of character and good morals seems to be Little Al. I hope he wins if there must be a winner.

I've tried, I really have...but I can't getexcited about it all. What's original in it - where is the real challenge, other than psychologically? I will give it anothe rgo although I feel that putting it mainly on Beeb 3 is a mistake...I forget to watch it on there.
How does it compare to the original?
