The Sun has reported today that despite coming second in ITV TV show, The X Factor, Rhydian Roberts has still managed to land a record deal with Simon Cowell’s company, Sony BMG.
The deal is said to include at least one album, and many even include promotion in the US.
But Simon is not the only one knocking on Rhydian’s door:
Rhydian told The Sun: “Andrew [Lloyd Webber] and I have communicated. My ambition is to play the Phantom at the end of next year.”
An insider added: “Simon is relaxed about Rhydian doing Phantom but he wants to make sure he gets his record deal done first.
“That way Andrew Lloyd Webber has to work around Simon rather than the other way round.”

I tried to telephone the X factor phone line 15 times to vote for Rhydian Roberts before getting through. For ITV to say that it was a problem with the virgin phone libe is a nonsense as I used a BT landline. No disrsepects to Leon jackson, he’s a nice lad (and I wish him well, but I felt that the decision was dodgy. I also thought that pannelists Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, by their behaviour and changes of behaviour knew the result before the announcement was made. I think if Rhydian had a sob story (single parent mother/ death of a parent/bullied at school), he had cried more and wasn’t Welsh, he would have romped to victory. The dodgy phone situation makes me wonder if the result (which was very close) was valid!
I’m gutted about Rhydian not winning the show on sat night, i’m convinced it was a fix because Simons last comment was different from the postive one’s he had been making. I think on the finale one the lines should be open 24hrs so everybody gets a chance to vote. xx
i think it would have been good if the main singer of hope should have gone through as she is wasted and probably had won the competition.
hopefully she will come back next year and she may win next years if there is not competition against her.
she had a brilliant singing voice and she was young so she had her whole life ahead of her.
thanks

If The x Factor is supposed to be a talent show then how come the most talented didn’t win?
Makes you wonder if obviously talented people should bother going on unless they’re prepared to cry to get votes.

[...] win the ITV talent show, he still has big potential. I suppose thats why he offered him a £1 million record deal just days after the show [...]
