Shipwrecked: Lucy Buchanan’s Mum Speaks Out Over Race Row
The mother of the latest reality TV contestant accused of racism today leapt to her daughter’s defence. Lucy was seen on the launch of Channel 4’s shipwrecked making comments such as:
“I’m for the British Empire and things. I’m for slavery, but that’s never going to come back,� and added that she didn’t know many black people but “from what I have seen they are really bad�.
But her mother Nicola, 46, from the smart New Town area of Edinburgh said: “Lucy is definitely not a racist. She’s a well-mannered girl from a decent family.
“But she’s only 18. She does have a big mouth and sometimes speaks without thinking. She says things she doesn’t mean.â€?
This is exactly what Channel 4 doesn’t need right now, another racism row! I hope they handle this better than the last one.

An eighteen year old is not a child. Without doubt she got these views from her parents, and had them reinforced over her growing up years by her schoolmates, family friends, and the persons in the strata of society in which she moves and by whom she was socialised, to use a word from psychology and the social sciences. It is idiots like these that lost you Brits your empire. As an old colonial I have to say thanks to these folks, but this does not lessen my utter and total contempt for these abominable creatures.

her mother says she is well mannered, well mannered doesn’t mean you are immune from prejudice which her daughter clearly is, and coming from a “decent family” hasn’t stopped her from condoning one of the most abhorent prectices on the planet. her mother should have apologised for her daughters comments, that would have done more to convince me that her and her whole family are not racists. why is it so hard for people to admit when they have done wrong and have a bit of humility.

Where does someone get values like that?
She wants throwing out of the University she attends for that remark. In fact the show should just be taken off the air.
My wife is a beautiful black caribbean woman, does this tart think she should be taken away from me and sent off into slavery? Slavery where exactly? Here in the UK? What else must go on in that distorted little mind of hers? Should our mixed race daughter just be a slave half of the time?
Please just do what is right and stop giving these idiots air time.

what a spoiled little brat ,who does she think she is ?she is not beautiful at all,why doe channel 4 allow empty vessels to go on air ,her mum is just a big racist herself how can she justify her daugther`s behaviour like that.l think she and her mum should be sent to slavery in africa.it is so clear that her child is well racist mannered .group up you whatever your name is and your so called mother,one day this country is gonna be ruled by a black person lets see where you gonna go

The contentious (channel 4 read viewer grabbing),cretinous,hatred promoting views of some stuck up molly coddled little b###h ,should not be being promoted by Channel Four. In fact at this rate Channel Four ought to be asked some serious questions about what it deems to be appropriate for broadcast!
