One Direction fans are in something of a limbo right now given that while the official word remains that the former X Factor group are merely taking a break, nobody seems in any hurry to actually put a date on a reunion.
However, Niall Horan has insisted time and again over the last few months that he and his band mates WILL reunite.
And over the weekend, it’s been reported that he yet again stated that it would be “ridiculous” if One Direction simply faded away.
To the Sunday People, Niall said, “We will back. We would be silly not to… ridiculous.”
He added, “At the moment we’re all doing our own thing…
“Harry [Styles] wanted to do his movie and everyone is just chilling.”
Niall concluded by saying, “I don’t think anyone needs to worry about us; we’re fine.”
But once more, he gave no hint about when One Direction will reform, and at this point, that’s all the band’s fans want. It doesn’t even have to be overly specific and a ‘ballpark’ figure would do!
However, as Niall and his band mates all have solo projects that are ongoing, it’s surely unlikely that One Direction are going to return within the next year or two at least.
As Niall mentioned, Harry has filmed his role in Dunkirk and it’s believed he’s about to start filming a role as Mick Jagger in a Rolling Stones biopic.
Louis Tomlinson is also about to star in a new movie in which he will play footballer Jamie Vardy. In addition, Louis is focussing on his own record label and production company.
Liam Payne meanwhile has been working on his solo debut album and is no doubt eagerly awaiting the birth of his first child…
So realistically, the original suggestion that One Direction would be back in 2017 now seems unlikely. And in all honesty, we don’t see them coming back in 2018 either.
But what do you think? Do you have any idea when One Direction will return?
And do you believe Niall when he says that they will indeed reform? Or do you think it’s only well-intentioned optimism on his part?
