So You Think You Can Dance Final: Alastair Postlethwaite not returning

And four became three……. We reported yesterday that So You Think You Can Dance finalist Robbie White had pulled out of the competition, after dislocating his shoulder. Producers had planned to bring recently eliminated contestant Alastair Postlethwaite back as Robbie’s replacement, but now those plans have been changed.

The three remaining contestants Tommy Franzén, Lizzie Gough and Charlie Bruce appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning and admitted that Alastair hadn’t been able to learn six new routines in such a short space of time.

“The plan was for Alastair to come back,” said Franzén. “But we just realised that it was way too much for anyone to learn those six routines. It wasn’t fair on him and he felt like that as well. He will still fill in, but so will Mark and Drew as well.”

Speaking about White’s injury, the Swedish hip-hop dancer said: “We were doing rehearsals me and Robbie. He slipped and fell on his shoulder. I knew something wasn’t right straight away.

“He was hardly able to speak, he was in so much pain.”

The So You Think You Can Dance final Saturday at 7.45pm on BBC One.
