In the first of two episodes of Coronation Street that air on Monday 16th January, having flashed her underwear at Luke in the garage, Tracy heads off grinning.
Meanwhile, Phelan hangs around the garage, desperate to get his hands on Kevin’s laptop to destroy the CCTV footage of his conversation with Todd, but Kevin tells him to do one. Quietly fuming, Phelan orders Andy to burn down Kevin’s garage, telling him it’ll be the worst for Steph if he fails to do so.
At the bistro, Phelan laces Kevin’s drinks with vodka before promising Robert and Steph that he’ll get him home. When Tracy overhears Freddie talking about the new CCTV, she’s mortified, realising they’ll have images of her in her underwear. Dragging Luke out of the pub, Tracy insists they must delete the footage immediately…
Phelan guides Kevin to the old garage and having stolen his keys, leaves him on the back seat of a customer’s car in a drunken stupor. Phelan hands the keys to Andy who lets himself into the new garage and prepares for the task ahead. But when he’s interrupted by the arrival of Luke and Tracy, is Andy about to be discovered?
In the second episode, satisfied they’ve deleted the saucy footage from the CCTV, Luke and Tracy head out, locking the new garage behind them. Andy breathes a sigh of relief…
Meanwhile, Freddie, Tyrone and Luke find Kevin sprawled out in the back of a car in the old garage, but realising he’s drunk, they leave him to it. Seizing the moment, Andy sets fire to the new garage and grabs Kevin’s laptop as he does a runner.
Later, Brian spots the garage fire and orders everybody to stand clear while he calls the fire brigade. As the fire rages Phelan allows himself a satisfied smile, while Freddie, Tyrone, Luke and Kevin watch in anguish.
Having returned home, a shaken Andy shoves Kevin’s laptop in a cupboard and his fire damaged clothes in the washing machine. But when Steph arrives home, she discovers Andy’s blackened clothes.
Glad to finally unburden himself, Andy tells Steph how he attacked Phelan as revenge for Michael, adding that Phelan’s been blackmailing him ever since. Steph listens aghast at his list of crimes. Will Steph report Andy or stand by her man?
We’re back on Coronation Street on Wednesday 18th January to see that while a distraught Kevin surveys the scene, the fire investigator sifts through the charred remains of the garage and finds a set of keys.
Elsewhere, Steph tells Andy they’re flying to Portugal on Friday (to stay with Katy) and need to focus on getting as far away from Phelan as they can. As they tell a perplexed Luke of their plans to move Portugal, he wonders if there’s more to it than they’re letting on.
Meanwhile, when Kevin tells Tyrone that he intends to sell the garage once the insurance has paid out, Tyrone becomes suspicious; especially when the fire investigator confirms that the blaze is now in the hands of the police as they suspect it’s a case of arson.
Later, the police confirm that with no sign of a forced entry, and no sign of Kevin’s laptop, it looks like arson. As Tyrone confronts Kevin over the fire, suggesting he started it himself, the police arrive…
Will Kevin be arrested on suspicion of arson?
Meanwhile, Eileen reveals to Liz that she’s marrying Pat tomorrow.
There’s another double-bill of Coronation Street on Friday 20th January, and in the first episode, as the police question Kevin about the fire, Steph points out to Tyrone that Kevin would be unlikely to burn down his own garage as he wouldn’t be able to make an insurance claim…
Given food for thought, Tyrone lies to the police, telling them that Kevin was in a drunken sleep and couldn’t possibly have torched the garage.
Later, having been released, Kevin thanks Tyrone for sticking up for him. However, Tyrone angrily points out that he lied for the sake of his family, not him, in the hope the insurance company will pay out.
When Andy finds out from Tyrone that Kevin’s missing laptop could contain vital CCTV footage, he forms a plan. Promising Steph that he’ll meet her at the airport, Andy sets about going through all the CCTV footage, in a bid to get Kevin off the hook. He’s intrigued to come across Phelan admitting to Todd that he was behind the building scam…
Having heard a knock at the door, Andy opens it and to his horror comes face to face with Phelan. Spotting his own image on the computer screen, Phelan demands answers.
In the second episode, seething with rage, Phelan tells Andy that the whole reason for burning down the garage was to destroy Kevin’s laptop. Secretly pressing record on his phone, Andy quizzes Phelan about the building scam and Michael’s death. But having smelt a rat, Phelan makes a grab for Andy’s phone…
In a desperate bid to escape, Andy promises Phelan he’ll destroy the laptop and he’ll never hear from him again. But as Phelan scrolls through the photos on Andy’s phone, scoffing at the ones of Michael, Andy snaps and clouts Phelan over the head with the laptop.
As Steph waits for Andy at the airport, she confides in Luke that their relationship has been under a lot of strain recently and she wouldn’t be surprised if Andy didn’t show up.
Back on the cobbles, Andy makes to leave but Phelan fights back. Will he prove too strong for Andy?
Meanwhile, Eileen waits nervously for Phelan at the Register Office, while Steph continues to sweat at the airport.
Will Eileen become Mrs Phelan? Will Steph and Andy escape Weatherfield?
