Coronation Street Spoilers: Ken Barlow suffers a devastating stroke! Was it Peter’s fault?

by Lynn Rowlands

We’re back on Coronation Street on Monday, 24th October to find that as a stricken Ken struggles to speak, the doctor assures Tracy that his recovery isn’t going to happen and will take time and patience.

Meanwhile, back on the cobbles, after Steve finds Peter lurking in the ginnel, Peter admits that things in Portsmouth went a bit pear-shaped and adds that he intends to stick around for a while…

Steve offers Peter a bed at the Rovers, but what will Michelle have to say about Steve’s kind-hearted gesture?

In the second of Monday night’s episodes, as Leanne prepares to take Simon to see Ken, Tracy tells Simon that his dad Peter caused Ken’s stroke. Vitriolic Tracy adds that she’s sent Peter packing, leaving Simon disappointed that he didn’t get to say goodbye.

Over at the pub, Michelle relents and reluctantly agrees that Peter can stay a few days.

Later, Peter visits Ken in hospital and asks him if he’d like him to pack his bags, as Tracy’s suggested. Barely audible, how will Ken respond?

The next trip to Coronation Street is on Wednesday, 26th October, and we rejoin the Weatherfield drama to see Peter begging Tracy for a chance to help out and make amends with his Dad. Soon, on Tracy’s orders, Peter phones round the family, breaking the news of Ken’s stroke.

The finals episodes of Coronation Street for the week air on Friday, 28th October, and in the first episode, as Simon reads aloud to Ken at his bedside, Peter and Audrey arrive to visit. However, believing that Peter caused Ken’s stroke, Simon snipes at him, leaving Audrey embarrassed.

Ken however can only listen, and frustrated, he wishes he was well enough to intervene. But when Simon then insists they do a crossword, it’s too much for Ken. He loses his temper and orders him to leave.

In the second episode, with Peter present, the doctor explains to Ken that he’s suffering from aphasia. Struggling to speak, Ken orders a heartbroken Peter to leave, telling him he doesn’t want any visitors from now on…
