Coronation Street actor and winner of this years Soapstar Superstar, Antony Cotton, is upset that he didn’t get offered any record deals since leaving the show.
But he said: “I did think maybe I’ll get one that I can turn down. But nothing. Not one. I’m gutted.”
Are you really surprised Antony? You aren’t exactly Shayne Ward!

Oh gosh, I didn’t think he was seriously looking for a record deal.
Personally I Like Anthony’s personality and thought that he was only doing Soapstar superstar for a little fun and at the same time charity, I Certainly wouldn’t give any credence to his desire for a record deal.
To be honest his personality won the day not his ability.
I’m sorry if this seems harsh but someone may need to start mentoring this lad to be grateful for the soap career he has without any illusions of singing grandeur.

This is such a weird story; where did it come from?
‘Cos it seems to me that someone who seriously wants a record deal isn’t going to say they’ll turn it down BEFORE they’ve actually been offered one…
Especially as Antony himself said “I ain’t a singer” during the contest.
It seems more on a par with his remark that ” I hope she’s (ie Shirley Bassey) in Monte Carlo (on the night of the medleys) ‘cos this might finish her off”
He was only joking when he made that comment.
He asked asked in an interview if he had been offered a record contract. And he said no then jokingly added he wished that he had have. So that he could have turned it down.
I dont think that Antony even thinks that hes that good a singer. He was just mucking about.
