Arlene Phillips Sacked For Alesha Dixon?
The Sun has reported that Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has been sacked from the show.
66 year old Arlene, who had the worst one liners in the history of television, is said to have been replaced by former winner of the show, Alesha Dixon.
A show source said: “It’s nothing personal against Arlene — she’s been brilliant.
“But the bosses want to bring in younger viewers — the 16 to 34-year-olds that X Factor mops up.”
“Nothing has been signed, but bosses really want Alesha as she has everything they’re looking for.
“She also knows a thing or two about dancing. Strictly can feel a bit old fashioned.”
Whilst I am all behind sacking Arlene from the show, I’m not sure that Alesha is the ideal replacement. She may have won the show but she is not professionally trained, which should really be a requirement for a judge.
While the BBC are tweaking the format, wouldn’t it be great if they got rid of Craig Revel Horwood too?

I personally like Craig – he goes too far sometimes but at least he’s honest. Arlene, on the other hand, really irritates me, especially those terrible similes and alliterations that I’m sure she must spend all week thinking up. I’d be quite happy to see her leave, really.
I love Alesha and I can see her being quite fun to watch as a judge… but I agree that really the judges ought to have professional experience with dancing.

Nobody will ever be able to take the place of Arlene unless they have had the same level of professional training and experience. Aleisha seems a very pleasant individual but she doesn’t have the training or the experience. So they must be cutting costs and getting Aleisha at 25% of what Arlene is paid.

If the BBC are to replace Arlene Phillips then there is no-one better than the gorgeous Alesha Dixon to take her place.
She will bring glamour, fun and dance experience to the show. I thought she was A-MAZ-ING when she won Strictly in 2007 with the wonderful Matthew Cutler, and I’m sure she’ll be FANTASTIC as a judge!

i dont think that arlene should be sacked just because of her age, its rediculious and a massive mistake. i will probably stop watching strictly if alesha is signed up. Arelene has had years of experience and know’s what she’s talking about whereas Alesha has hardly any experience, just because she won last year does not mean shes a professional. i think the professionals will find it very hard to take critisism from alesha. Dont get me wrong i like alesha but shes not cut out to be a judge and give couples dancing advice. Alene should not be replaced woith a younger woman it is agism and cruel to poor arlene who is getting fired just so they can get someone younger.
