Artem Chigvintsev could be deported if axed from Strictly Come Dancing 2013
Artem Chigvintsev has admitted that he worries he would be banned from living in the UK, if he was dropped from the Strictly Come Dancing lineup.
The Russian hunk was concerned when a number of professional dancers were axed from the BBC show this year and though he survived and will perform on the 2013 series, he knows that if things go wrong in the future, he could find himself being forced to leave his girlfriend behind, when he is sent back to his home country.
Artem has been dating Eastenders star Kara Tointon ever since they were paired together on the 2010 series of the show. They currently live together in London but under the terms of his Russian work visa, he has to be constantly employed and working if he wants to stay in England.
He told The Daily Star:
“You don’t know what’s going to happen and if I wasn’t asked back it would really affect my life on different levels.”
The terms of his visa have seen Chigvintsev signing up for shows in between Strictly series’ such as Burn The Floor and Dance To The Music.
He is determined to win over Strictly fans again this year and help keep his place on the pro team safe by reaching the final of the series once again. Artem has an impressive track record on the show and he won with Kara three years ago and in 2011 made it as far as the semi final with Australian actress Holly Valance.
He has been partnered with one of the favourites from the 2013 lineup and will dance with Natalie Gumede, 29, when live shows start next weekend and he couldn’t have asked for a better partner as much as been made of Natalie’s previous dance training.
