Children in Need 2013

This evening, both Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill swapped their ice skates for a pair of dancing shoes as they took on Strictly Come Dancing.

The dance opened with a spectacular mirroring routine in which the two professional dancers were mirrored by Torvill and Dean, before breaking away to dance with their respective professional partners.

James Jordan and Jayne took to the dance floor to give a very fast paced Tango with lots of lifts incorporated, which was on point to say that they’d only had three days to rehearse.

Christopher and Aliona Vilani also took to to the dance floor with quite a racy, punchy, fast-paced dance which looked like it should belong on the main Saturday evening show. I reckon they sign the pair up.

But, tonight wasn’t all about the pair competing against each other. As we have seen for many years, the pair have come together and won more medals and awards than you can shake a stick at. They both gave a brilliant routine.

Unfortunately, there was only three judges in the building this evening – Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell… they’d locked Craig away in a cupboard for his own safety.

Judges Comments

Len Goodman: “You were nice on ice, but you’re good on wood. I have a bone to pick with you two, the ’84 Olympics, I’m sitting there and you got all those perfect scores, I jumped up, hit the mantlepiece and fractured my thumb”.

Bruno Tonioli: “Well, you both definitely melted the ice tonight. Jayne, I thought you were a nice girl? That Tango changed my opinion, you were no naughty. Christopher, you have the strength and musical vitality”.

Darcey Bussell: “I can’t believe you’re on the dance floor. I have to say I enjoyed your strength Jayne and the attack you gave it. Christopher, all the way through, you didn’t fade one. There was a tiny mistake but you followed it through like a true professional”.

Both Bruno and Len voted that Jayne Torvll & James Jordan should take the coveted Children in Need Strictly Come Dancing trophy home. With two votes to one, Jayne reigned victorious over Christopher!

Strictly Come Dancing 2013 continues tomorrow evening at 6:30pm on BBC One live from Blackpool!!

Really enjoyed it and would LOVE them both to sign up for the main series. Their ice dance background means they have so much already – beautiful arms etc – they’re obviously great performers, and Jayne’s used to being flung around all over the place, so they were able to incorporate some incredible lifts into the routine. Shame Craig wasn’t there – I’m guessing it was filmed when he was recovering from his hip op.
