Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens in just a few months and it seems that bosses are already hard at work, trying to finalise their 2012 lineup.

Insiders say that one man whose name is in the frame for the BBC reality TV show is Radio 2 breakfast show DJ Chris Evans.

A source told The Sun that producers think Chris’ loyal fanbase, quirky sense of humour and upbeat attitude would make him an ideal contestant for the series, which will be battling hard to ensure it beats the X Factor in the weekly ratings war again this year.

They explained:

“Chris would be a brilliant signin. He is a TV legend and would bring his own brand of humour and charisma to the show, not to mention nine million Radio 2 fans and five million One Show fans.

“Nothing is confirmed yet but we have our fingers crossed.”

Evans will follow in the footsteps of two other high profile BBC presenters if he does accept the challenge and it has been claimed that his One Show colleague Alex Jones has been using her influence to convince him to take part.

The former Strictly finalist told the ginger dad of three that it was a wonderful experience for her and a great career move.

“Alex was worried about going on Strictly but loved every minute and has told Chris how much fun it was. The bosses hope her encouragement will swing it,” the source explained.
