Julien Macdonald is the latest star linked to this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The BBC One dance show returns to our screens for it’s brand new series next month and it’s been reported that the camp designer and former Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model judge is being added to the lineup.
Julien once hit the headlines after a row with X Factor star Cheryl Cole, after he branded her a ‘chav’ at a party and it’s thought that bosses want this outspoken quality on the 2013 run and think that he could bring his own brand of ‘camp fun’ to the series.
The 42-year-old has dressed stars such as Joely Richardson, Dannii Minogue, Geri Halliwell, Dame Shirley Bassey, Carmen Electra, Naomi Campbell, Beyoncé Knowles, Bonnie Tyler and Selena Gomez to name a few and would be quite the catch for the Beeb, however it’s been claimed that he has yet to ink his final deal and is still in negotiations.
An insider told The Sun:
“Julien would be great fun and producers hope he would bring his celeb mates to cheer him on.”
Other stars such as former X Factor winner Joe McElderry, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, TV presenter Vanessa Feltz, former Gladiators star Diane Youdale and model Abbey Clancy are also reportedly on the lineup for the new series.
It was revealed this week that the stars may not all attract the same bumper payout and will instead be paid depending on how far they get in the series, giving them a real incentive to put the hours in at the rehearsal studio.
Each celebrity will get a standard £25,000 payment, but if they can survive the public vote until October this will be boosted to £40,000 and anyone who makes the quarter finals in November will see their pay packet hitting £60,000.
Only five couples will make the semi finals and each of these will land a £75,000 payment, with the winner taking a whopping £100,000 at the end of the series.
