Penny Lancaster Leaves Strictly Come Dancing
Model and photographer Penny Lancaster Stewart became the sixth person to be voted off BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing after failing to impress the judges in the dance off.
All the couples danced either the Viennese Waltz or the salsa, but once again one of those couples had to leave.
But it was Penny and Matt D’Angelo who found themselves in the bottom two competing in the dance off.
Of Penny’s first performance, the salsa, the judges said –
Arlene Phillips said: “It was like a canary and a crow flying in from Stansted not Cuba!” Score: 6.
Bruno Tonioli said: “Nobody can ever tell you that you don’t put everything you’ve got into it but tonight we were bordering on the hysterical. It was too much. Too tangled, too matted. The salsa has a fluid quality. I think you overdid it.” Score: 7.
Len Goodman said: “The salsa is an eclectic mix of different Latin rhythms. It’s got to have lots of good hip action and fun. And I have to say fun you did produce. It was entertaining, it was good fun. For me it was just a bit hectic throughout the dance.” Score: 7.
Craig Revel Horwood said: “Sorry not a fan. The energy was phenomenal but it made it displaced. It was unfocused and all over the place.” Score: 6.
Total: 25/40.
The judges’ leader board was:
Gethin and Camilla 36
John and NicoleE 36
Kelly and Brendan 36
Alicia and Matthew 35
Matt and Flavia 29
Kenny and Ola 26
Letitia and Darren 25
Penny and Ian 25
Kate and Anton 18
On the dance-off the judges said –
Craig: “It’s criminal you’re in the bottom two but based on this dance alone I’m saving Matt and Flavia.”
Arlene: “I’m staggered by the improvement of both couples but I’m saving Penny and Ian.”
Bruno: “Praise to both… based on this performance the Viennese Waltz was more polished… I’m saving Matt and Flavia.”
Len: “I feel like I’m putting someone out of the show but judging on what I’ve just seen I’m saving Matt and Flavia.”
The competition continues next week.
