BBC bosses are said to be planning to sex up this years series of Strictly Come Dancing in a bid to steal some of X Factors young fans.

The producers are said to be taking tips from the US version of the show, ‘Dancing With The Stars’ which features stars like Denise Richards and a host of young sexy dancers.

A show source told The Sun: “No one could ever say Strictly is not a huge hit. We can’t compete with the Americans’ massive budget, but we realise the dancers are younger and sexier.

“Strictly goes head to head with The X Factor, which has a lot of young viewers. We want to steal some of their 16-23 audience.”

I think the Beeb need to be careful how they execute this plan as the last thing they need to do is alienate their current viewers and fans of the show. I’m not even sure that they really need to alter the shows format or feel, what they do need to do is choose a decent time slot and stick to it. All this moving back and forward to accommodate sporting events etc definitely impacts the flow of the series.
