Strictly Come Dancing professional Hayley Holt has revealed that she was fired from the show via email.

Holt just joined the show last year when she partnered swimmer Mark Foster.

“I’m not too sure why I wasn’t asked back. They didn’t really give me a reason,” she told The Mirror.

“My agent had to ring them up to find out what was going on. It leaves me wondering why. It is frustrating.”

Karen Hardy was also rumoured to have been fired but has in fact accepted a reduced role on the show.

A BBC spokesperson commented: “We contract dancers for one series at a time and the lineup is always subject to change. We thank Hayley for her fantastic contribution to the show. It is an amicable decision.”

It is an amicable decision? I am puzzled this professional dancer isn’t the only dancer to have been axed from this show. I think the BBC have decided to continue making cut backs and this is one way to do it. The only concern that it is amicable to is themselves.

Why is it they haven’t cut back on the excessive salaries paid to BBC executives, producers, directors surely the Director General and the Chairman could have taken a pay and reinvested their commissions.

All the reported news of BBC cutbacks is making me very cynical.

Maybe the Government should step in and tell them to get off their high horses and listen to the viewing public. There could be a very good argument here for abolishing television licensing and to introduce advertising into the programme schedules to fund BBC programmes.
