Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Bruno Tonioli reveals that his drink was once spiked with LSD and took cocaine – but he wouldn’t recommend either!

Bruno Tonioli has revealed that he does have a limited history with illegal drugs.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge is due to burst back onto our TV screens, in all his Italian glory, this Saturday night when the new series of the BBC show premieres but fans of the format and of his American series ‘Dancing With The Stars’ may be surprised to discover that the clean living star has taken both LSD and cocaine in the past.

In a very revealing new autobiography, the handsome star revealed that he once had a drink spiked with LSD, when he was a much younger man partying with friends in Munich.

It wasn’t a pleasant experience for him and The Sun quotes Bruno as saying:

“The room started to swirl, the colours from the lights became dazzling and psychedelic. My senses seemed to explode. It didn’t take long for me to realise that my drink had been spiked with LSD.

He added:

“I had no idea what the hell was going on, I thought I was Roger Daltrey and when I looked down at myself, I was bathed in gold.

“It was at that point that I started dancing on the tables like a lunatic. In my head I thought I was flying, swinging from the chandeliers like a rock god, but the reality was I was jumping from table to table knocking glasses over, sending the other guests scrambling for safety.”

Bruno went outside and after that remembers nothing, until he came to in a ski resort which was two hours away from Munich, with no idea how he got there.

Tonioli avoided drugs for most of the rest of his life, however he did reveal that he once tried cocaine but wasn’t a big fan.

“Yes, I tried cocaine,” he revealed,” but these days I would say if you want to expand your mind just read a good book.”

“I took cocaine at a party. The following morning I was struck down by the most incredible headache I had ever experienced.

“I was in agony. ‘Oh my God,’ I wailed, hiding my head under a pillow. I had a headache for three days, I was unable to get out of bed. I couldn’t function.

“I thought, ‘I’ve just paid for the world’s biggest migraine.’ But that wasn’t the half of it, darling. I was ill for days. In hindsight, I think that’s what really scared me the most.”

Bruno was out in style last night, looking every bit the hunk when he took to the red carpet for the official Strictly Come Dancing launch. He played up for the cameras with fellow judge Craig revel Horwood, as the pair pretended to fight with one another but all was in jest as they looked forward to the start of the new series this weekend.
