It was reported today that Strictly Come Dancing bosses have banned Fern Britton from starting her rehearsals at the same time as her fellow contestants and we think we know why.

Insiders claim it’s because she previously received some dance training when she worked on the 2010 Christmas special of the show back in 2010, but we think that actually they have seen this clip of her tap dancing back in the 80s.

Thirty years ago the then young presenter was starting out on regional TV and on a show named ‘That’s Rich’, a very young Ms Britton can be seen strutting her stuff and enthusiastically attempting a tap routine in front of the cameras.

The silver leotard, leg warmers and bright gold belt may not be the most flattering outfit she has ever worn, but still her youthful exuberance shone through.

Speaking on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing launch show, Britton recalled her big moment in the spotlight, saying:

‘I did a tap dance routine on television many years ago,. I remember I quite enjoyed it, but I have to say I’ve forgotten most of the steps. So I am starting from scratch with Strictly.’

Someome who also seems to be starting from scratch is Tracey Beaker star Dani Harmer.

The young actress is being partnered by Vincent Simone on the BBC show and this morning tweeted her fans this picture with the caption:

‘Day 2 of training and I can’t wait! Hope me and @vincentsimone don’t end up like we did last night xxx’

Harmer has a little dance experience, after she made it as far as the final of ‘Let’s Dance For Sport Relief’ earlier this year but for it she only had to learn one routine and one style of dance. Strictly is a whole other story!
