Nicky Byrne obviously didn’t think he would really be dancing when he attended his first Strictly Come Dancing rehearsal, as he showed up wearing a pair of casual shorts.

The former Westlife singer looked a picture when he donned his tap shoes for the first time, with a little pair of white trainer socks, and teamed them with a pair of knee length bottoms.

The Irish hunk revealed that he hadn’t expected to get right down to business on the first day and confessed:

“I was a bit shocked when I walked in and had to put the shoes on straight away and I forgot I’d worn shorts, because it was quite a sunny day in Dublin.”

Byrne insisted that his legs don’t usually look so oasty and added:

“Whatever was going on with the light, they looked the whitest they have ever been since I was born so I might actually tan alright.”

His professional partner Karen did have a bit of a giggle when she saw his pins, however it seems the dance expert is glad to have landed the singer this year, and she seems to think that he’s doing a good job so far.

She explained:

“I thought today’s session went really well. It’s the waltz, it’s a tough one. It looks beautiful and it looks easy but it’s really not. All the footwork and the frame…it’s difficult but I think Nicky handled it really well. ”

“Nicky’s a winner, I just need to fix little things here and there, I think he’s got what it takes.”
Nick added:

“Karen’s brilliant, she’s really fun and she’s up for a bit of banter as well.”
