Strictly Come Dancing 2012: Lisa Riley says she loves her new figure!

Strictly Come Dancing heroine, Lisa Riley, has revealed her delight at dropping several sizes since competing in the hit BBC1 dancing competition and claim’s that she “loves her reflection in the mirror now”.

Former Emmerdale actress, Lisa, shocked the nation during the first week of last year’s reality show wowing judges and audiences alike when she performed her first dance with professional dance partner, Robin Windsor, earning her the first top of the leader board spot of the series.

Lisa and Robin then went on to shine through every week, with vibrant, energetic and technically brilliant performances until their strictly dream came to an end in week 11, coming a respectable 5th place in the competition.

Lisa has revealed that since taking part in the show she has undergone a huge physical transition, dropping from a size 26 to a size 20/18, but whilst she loves her new figure, the dramatic weight loss hasn’t changed her perception of herself.

Speaking to Reveal magazine she explained:

“Honestly, it doesn’t affect me.

“I’ve always been confident about the way I look so losing weight hasn’t made me feel different about myself.

“I love my reflection in the mirror, I really do.

“I’m not a bad cookie. That’s the way women should feel about themselves.”

Riley, who played bubbly Mandy Dingle in Emmerdale for over 6 and ha half years, went on to say how she doesn’t feel that women should be judged by their size:

“Bigger women need to realise that they are loved and should never be judged – not ever.

“No one has the right to judge anyone for what they look like or who they are.

“Be comfortable in your own skin and with your reflection.”

She added: “Cheryl Cole is breathtakingly beautiful, but we need more real women to look at.

“People should be able to be who they want to be and not made to think they have to eat celery.”
